The Stéphane Le Triant Scholarship honours Mr. Stéphane Le Tirant, contemporary pioneer of entomology in Québec. Stéphane Le Tirant has worked at the Montréal Insectarium since 1988, taking responsability for the live insect collection and becoming an assistant entomologist and collections curator. He has participated in most of the Insectarium’s exhibits and developed and co-created many of them. Stéphane is also an international expert of several groups of insects and continues taxonomic work with the Phyllidae, the Dynastinae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), the Phasmidae, the lepidoptera and in paleoentomology.

A 5000$ scholarship will be awarded to a student registered in a master’s or doctoral program at a Quebec university and whose study and research project is directly associated with entomology. The 5000$ scholarship will aim to encourage students to pursue higher studies in the field of entomology but more specifically to stimulate and encourage students to pursue higher studies in the fields of taxonomy, systematics, biogeography, phylogenetics and biodiversity.

  • The deadline for application is May 2nd, 2025
  • Award winners will be announced at the end of July.
  • Awardees will be required to commit to presenting their research at SEQ annual conference, as an oral presentation (highly recommended) or poster.
