Goal
The purpose of this contest is to reward one student each year for writing a literature review on a topic related to entomology.
Eligibility
- Be a student member of the SEQ
- Be enrolled in studies (e.g., college diploma, bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctorate) at the time of submission (provide proof of enrollment for the current semester)
- The submitted text must be a literature review on a topic related to entomology
- Each text must be submitted in Word format, have a title, be written in English or French, have a maximum length of 3000 words (including bibliography), and be written with 1.5 line spacing
- Three illustrations, graphs, or tables may accompany the text if they provide relevant additional information
*Literature reviews written as part of a course or research project may be used and adapted to the contest requirements.
**Texts that do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be evaluated.
Evaluation criteria
- Synthesis effort
- Text organization
- Language quality
- Literature review quality (including diversity of sources cited)
- Ability to capture the reader's interest through the originality of the chosen topic
***The average score awarded by the jury must be at least 80% for the author of the best text to win the contest. If no text exceeds a score of 80%, no prize will be awarded.
Prize
The winner of the prize will have their text published in the newsletter Antennae and/or on the SEQ website, receive a $500 scholarship (awarded at the SEQ annual conference), and have their registration for the SEQ conference for the current year covered by the SEQ.
